Leather + Fringe

It’s safe to say that leather and fringe are my new fall obsessions, and I’ll pretty much be living in both of them through the new year! Leather is definitely a cool/cold weather wardrobe staple that will never go out of style, and it doesn’t hurt to have a variety of leather options in your closet…skinnies, skirts, shorts, tops, dresses and even culottes (which are back in style!).

I’ve always been drawn to fringe, maybe because it makes me feel more connected to my roots ;-). Fun fact: Native American tribes originally created garments with fringe to serve as a type of gutter that repelled rainwater from the wearer. Fringe didn’t become a popular fashion embellishment until the 1920’s as part of the flapper dress style.

Ok enough about the history of fashion! Moral of the story is if you love fringe definitely take advantage of this current trend and incorporate it into your fall style. Also don’t be afraid to mix and match materials this season that you normally wouldn’t pair together. My fav combos are leather and suede, tweed/wool and leather and of course leather on leather!

Oh, and I can’t forget about this gorgeous wine red hat that I snagged on sale for under $20! I’ve linked it at the end of the pictures for you to shop. Hats are a great accessory to add a little something more to an outfit…or to easily disguise a bad hair day. I love wine red or burgundy paired with the color olive. This olive top with a peek-a-boo back was the perfect combo with my hat!

I’d love to hear how you’re rocking your leather this fall in the comments below. Enjoy!
