The Staple Edit: 1 Shirtdress, 3 Ways

I just can’t preach enough about wardrobe staples and why they are so important to have in your closet! A wardrobe staple is an item that can be worn multiple ways, often your go-to piece to complete many of your everyday or favorite looks. You will always get the most out of your wardrobe by mixing and matching your staples to create fresh, new looks without having to spend a dime!

A wardrobe staple has several requirements…it must be versatile, of good quality and a classic style. It’s OK to splurge a bit more than usual on these items because they will serve as the foundation of your wardrobe and you want them to last for many years to come. Also, stick to classic styles (i.e. simple) because you don’t want them to ever go out of fashion.

I styled this shirtdress {one of my newer staples} 3 ways to show the power of a versatile piece and how it can maximize your current wardrobe. In the pictures I’m taking this one dress all the way from work (middle), to after 5 (left) and weekend casual (right)! I’m loving classic shirtdresses for the fall transition to cold weather, they can be an outfit base or a great layering add-on. I’ve linked several similar styles to the one I’m wearing in my “Fall Must-Have” list <click here>, plus tons of other essential fall staples!

What are your go-to staples this fall?! Leave me a comment and let me know what you’re repeat styling in your closet right now!
