Vintage Perfection

I love the concept of (re)bringing to life a garment that was probably once worn ever so stylishly by another diva my elder, but when thrifting it is SO rare to score that perfect vintage piece! The sizing runs extremely small…the label may read my size, but when I get it in the fitting room it feels like I’m trying to squeeze into a size negative zero {always a bummer!}. Or if the item somewhat fits, it’s going to need alterations to fit perfectly, and it may or may not be worth the price in the end. My rule of thumb with vintage finds is: If it catches your eye give it a shot and try it on…you just may fall in love with it! If so, take it home and style it with current pieces that you love from your wardrobe.

Well, the vintage gods were looking out for me the day I snagged this beautiful dress for just 7 bucks!! I adore the pretty detailed gold buttons and the thick tweed-like material, it looks and feels so regal. The collar is lined with buttons which was perfect to tack on a fur stole from a cape that I own. And to top it all off, it appears that it was previously altered by a lady just my size!

I paired my new {to me} vintage beauty with patterned stalkings, suede booties and a leather clutch. I’m a huge fan of mixing textures to draw the eye especially when wearing all black. See credits at the end of the post for all outfit details.

I hope my beautiful readers are having a lovely weekend!!
