Romper + Faux Fur

Not a typical winter outfit combo, huh? If you’ve been following me, you know that I’m a firm believer in the fact that rompers can be year-round wardrobe staples. It’s all in how you style them!

For spring/summer, rompers can stand alone with a sexy pair of heeled sandals or cute flats, and for fall/winter, pair them up with OTK or thigh-high boots and a fur or longline coat. Unexpected combinations like the latter really make a fashion statement, and tend to be the most memorable outfits!

This is one of my all-time favorite looks (outfit details below), and I hope you like it too! πŸ˜‰furcoat-10-zf-6560-16970-1-001furcoat-9-zf-6560-16970-1-002furcoat-6-zf-6560-16970-1-005img_20170103_212142_536furcoat-5-zf-6560-16970-1-006img_20170103_124937_466furcoat-1-zf-6560-16970-1-010furcoat-2-zf-6560-16970-1-009Romper:Β Lavish AliceΒ // Coat:Β ZARAΒ // Boots:Β JustFabΒ (everything last season)

Now can we switch gears a bit to talk about goals for the new year?! One of my top goals for 2017 is to have more of a servants heart. What I mean by that is putting more of a focus on serving the world and my church, and being less focused on ME and mine. It’s so easy to consume our time with just taking care of ourselves and our family, and forgetting that we’re on this earth to glorify God’s kingdom which has a lot to do with helping others {total strangers} in need. From day to day sometimes it’s hard to be intentional about finding people truly in need of our help, which is why it’s so important for me to stay connected to my church and help/serve through the programs that they have already established. For me personally, I’m just too blessed by God to not give back in more ways than financially. Btw- I go to Victory World Church if anyone lives in Atlanta and wants to check it out!

I also want to serve through using this platform to spread positive messages and encouragement to the world, not just fashion inspiration. I may lose some people along the way that only want to hear and see fashion, but that’s OK…it’s all a part of this journey called life.

With that said, if you have any life topics that you’d like to see me talk about here please let me know in the comments below. I’m a wife, mom, daughter, corporate chick, and entrepreneur that goes through everyday life struggles just like most of you…and we need encouragement from one another to stay lifted up and on track! I want this space to be fun, beneficial & REAL!!

Until next time,

Aliya

  1. Hey Girlfriend,
let me first say that I am with you on wearing our summer/fall staple in winter. The boot and faux fur just did the romper justice.
I love your goal and I am here for it. Have a wonderful week!

  2. Beautiful Combo as always.
Amazingly you mentioned about being a “Servant” and allowing yourself to be more accessible for the creators use and not always fulfilling your own likes and pleasures. I have been reading an amazing book called “Compassion” by Henry Nouwen, Donald McNeill and Douglas Morrison. This is a MUST HAVE reader. Especially if you’re making such a life changing movement. In chapter 5 it talks about “Displacement” and what it means. Displacement means to move or to shift from ones ordinary or proper place. It goes on to talk about a community and how we all associate a community as one that is a familiar place with familiar faces……a sense of unity and at-homeness. However, GOD’s call to community is to move away from the ordinary and proper places where we are comfortable and into places of COMPASSION where it requires Displacement into unknown territories. A Christian’s Community is where people hurt and where we can experience with them our COMMON HUMAN brokenness and our COMMON NEED FOR HEALING. (All quotes from book). I STAND with you Sistah in this movement. Let’s not wait and get started by sharing our ideas.
